FAQS

Is this site Paul's official site? Is there an official site?
No it is not official. It is a fansite, but Paul has been kind enough to contribute some to it. At this time Paul does not have an official site.

Does Paul have an email for fanmail?
No, the only method for fans to contact him is with the agency address listed above.

Can you forward an email to Paul for me? Can you tell me how to get a job working with/for him? Can Paul look at my script/movie?
No, no and no.

Is Paul married? Is he gay?
Paul isn't married, or gay. Geoffrey Jellineck was not based on real life events. ;) Otherwise Paul's personal life is private and won't be talked about here.

Does Paul have a Myspace or Facebook profile?
No. There has been a lot of confusion over this, but the profiles out there are not real (there are plenty of clues pointing this out). Sorry to dash your hopes, but don't automatically assume you're interacting with the real deal.

Thank Yous:

-First and foremost, thanks to Paul for being such an upstanding fella and contributing to the site and generally indulging me. I'm thankful for his many projects and collaborations with Amy Sedaris and Stephen Colbert which have provided me with many hours of entertainment, helped to introduce me to a lot of new people and given me a lot of material to steal and pass off as my own.
-Theninjascotsman & bittertea for providing a huge amount of the pictures on the site. Tracy for being generally awesome and supportive. DB Ferguson for the advice and help. Katie for the advice of someone who's been there. Jessica for the articles. Heather & Hallie for being such cheerleaders and putting up with me.

naked barbies love me

Women are poison, every last one of them

Well hello there. My name is Caitlin. I'm a 23 year old photographer, women's studies minor and am unemployed. In my spare time I make fansites about gay art teachers, whittle*, and collect My Little Ponies. This is my story.

Why a fansite about Paul? The short answer is: I have no life and thus it gives me something to spend countless hours on fighting the ravages of loneliness. But the long answer is more convoluted. I am actually a relatively new Paul Dinello fan, which many people are shocked to find out. It developed through an odd series of unrelated events that make me shake my head in awe as to the wonderful random things the internet can provide. It all started with me stumbling across a link to an Exit 57 sketch and I became intrigued.

This was shortly after seeing the Stranger With Candy movie in theatres, so the wheels started turning and I started investigating more about the charming trio. I started with Stephen Colbert. My feeble mind hadn't quite latched onto all the connections to his past work, so I had a lot of "oh yeah!" moments, connecting all the dots. I had been a fan of his while he was on The Daily Show and enjoyed The Colbert Report, but I hadn't been a hugely dedicated watcher, mostly due to lack of time while in college. I started watching diligently and through OSCLA, I learned more about Exit 57 and Wigfield and quickly worked my way through both.

What do you want? I was drawing it from memory.

My interest in Strangers With Candy was also dragged up from a dormant part of my brain known as "high school years" and reactivated. I had watched the show on random occasions when it originally ran, but I was a bit young to really "get it", but I think I knew deep down inside that it was something to be filed away for later years. I got the DVD set and immediately fell in love with the Noblet/Jellineck interaction. This can probably be explained in part by my unnatural preoccupation with gay men, but Paul and Stephen are just so good in their roles that I loved their storylines the most.

I had previously let Paul's performance as Geoffrey Jellineck slip under my radar, which I think is common. In comparison to the other characters, Geoffrey is much more subtle, so I think a lot of the great Geoffrey lines and moments can get a bit lost. While re-watching the series I grew to love his overly dramatic outbursts and feelings of censorship (not to mention his fetching wardrobe) and he quickly became my favorite character. Feelings of wanting to be BFF4L and shopping for paisley shirts together while sipping a caramel latte and talking about boys still linger.

I think the fact that Geoffrey is an artist was my initial attraction. He reminded me so much of people from art school and one particularly horrible art teacher from high school. "Yes You Can't!" struck a particular chord with me as I find myself struggling with the concept of thinking about wanting to paint quite a bit. I find Geoffrey relatable and endearing and I'm afraid I'm going to turn into him one day, minus a teaching job and not nearly as pretty.

SWC is a comedy show, but I think that part of what makes it so great is that it really does touch on some real life issues in a biting way. I think that Chuck and Geoffrey deal with actual issues of biases and hatred towards gays. The fact that they feel compelled to have their relationship remain a "secret" speaks volumes. I think that Paul really plays Geoffrey very well and very thoughtfully, especially during the "tender moments" and he especially got to shine In "Bully". He really captured the sort of fear and denial that most people would feel if placed in a similar threatening situation. Paul manages to make Geoffrey lovable, even though he is a self-centered idiot in many ways and I think that's why I love the character so much.

It's time to start doing!

Upon my new Geoffrey-love, I wanted to know more about Paul and was disappointed with what I found online. There had been talk amongst fans of starting a fansite, but nothing ever came to fruition and I was tired of waiting. So after digging through as many interviews, videos and pictures as I could find, I decided that if I wanted a Paul fansite I'd have to just make one myself. Because I have no life/friends, Pauldinello.net was soon born. I spent ridiculous amounts of time working on developing the site, but I continually learn a lot while making it and I'm pretty happy with the end result and my abilities to successfully succeed.

I think that oftentimes Paul is relegated to the "silent partner" status amongst the AmyStephenPaul trio, so my champion of the underdog instincts kicked in. Often Amy and Stephen get all the glory, and I think that Paul just deserves a nice, self-award winning fansite. One with lots of pretty pictures and other various shiny things to entertain the masses. Judging by the response I've gotten, I'm not the only one who thinks so.

*not true, I just said that to sound cool.
